Gender and youth issues are important to consider for food security. At the request of USAID’s Office of Food for Peace (FFP), FANTA hosted a gender consultation workshop January 16–18, 2018, in Kampala, Uganda, for organizations implementing new FFP development food security activities (DFSAs). During the three-day consultation, 40 participants from the AVSI Foundation, Catholic Relief Services, and Mercy Corps considered how gender dynamics can facilitate or obstruct a DFSA theory of change, identified areas where understanding gender dynamics and the potential impact of project activities are needed, discussed roles and responsibilities for conducting project gender analysis, and determined how the gender analysis findings are integrated into project plans.
