FANTA provided technical assistance for this publication, which provides the first formal comprehensive guidelines for the management and treatment of severe acute malnutrition (SAM) cases in Ghana. These interim guidelines are designed to be a practical guide for field implementers and policymakers and were adapted specifically for the Ghanaian health system. The guidelines are intended to be used by all service providers—including clinicians, nurses, nutritionists, dietitians, and other health care providers involved in the management of SAM in the country—for the management of SAM in both inpatient and outpatient facilities.
