National Recipe Guide for Complementary Feeding of Children 6–24 Months of Age

various vegetables and produce

A 2006 Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey conducted in Côte d’Ivoire found that infants were not receiving complementary foods with adequate nutritional value, leading to malnutrition and increased morbidity and mortality. FANTA worked with Côte d’Ivoire’s Ministry of Health, in particular the National Nutrition Program and the National Institute of Public Health, to develop a national recipe guide based on locally grown foods to help improve complementary feeding of children 6–24 months of age. The guide, in French, offers simple recipes and is intended to be used for counseling of mothers and caregivers by:

  • Health care services providers
  • Community organization personnel
  • Social workers and dieticians
  • International and national organizations that support health and nutrition programs
