FANTA/Tanzania Participates in FANUS 2015 Conference

The Federation of African Nutrition Societies is holding the 3rd FANUS conference May 25-29, 2015 in Arusha, Tanzania. The conference will focus on whether Africa has achieved the MDGs and to set goals in nutrition development in Africa. Tumaini Charles, FANTA/Tanzania’s Technical Advisor on Nutrition, will be presenting the poster “Equipping Health Facility and Community Care Workers with Standardized Knowledge and Skills to Deliver Routine Nutrition Assessment, Counselling, and Support (NACS) Services in Tanzania.”

Nine Ways to Tackle Obesity and Undernutrition

In an online Q&A session with a panel of experts, The Guardian posed the question “Can we tackle undernutrition and obesity at the same time?” FANTA's Technical Advisor on Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition joined the panel and added her experiences and knowledge on what can be done about the double burden of malnutrition.

World Health Day: Improving Household Food Hygiene in a Development Context

To help donors, partners, and programs address foodborne and waterborne diarrheal disease, FANTA recently conducted a literature review on food hygiene at the household level in developing countries and identified programmatic recommendations. How to Operationalize the New Minimum Dietary Diversity-Women (MDD-W) Indicator: One-Day Meeting to Provide Input into the Preparation of a Manual

To help support the adoption of the Minimum Dietary Diversity-Women indicator by large scale surveys and for use in program monitoring and evaluation, FAO, FANTA, and the University of California at Davis World Food Center (UCD-WFC) partnered together in 2015 to develop a manual to provide indicator data collection and tabulation guidance. As a preparatory step in this process, FANTA and the UCD-WFC invited a group of technical experts to participate in a meeting to provide input into the content and organization of the manual.

Building Nutrition Capacity for Better Care and Treatment
