Webinar on the New Sampling Guide for Beneficiary-Based Surveys for Select Feed the Future Agricultural Annual Monitoring Indicators

In a webinar on May 24, Diana Stukel (FANTA/FHI 360) and Anne Swindale (USAID/BFS) introduced a new sampling guide and calculator. The presenters discussed scenarios under which periodic beneficiary-based surveys are appropriate and highlighted a few of the approaches suggested in the guide. A live demonstration of the calculator was provided.

Qualitative Evaluation of Food for Peace Development Food Assistance Projects in Bangladesh

This report presents findings on the Nobo Jibon, PROSHAR, and SHOUHARDO II development food assistance projects operating in Bangladesh from 2010−2015. The findings answer questions related to project effectiveness, sustainability, coordination, and unintended effects (both positive and negative).

Working Towards the Sustainable Development Goals: Turning Nutrition Policy into Action in Uganda’s Dokolo District

USAID, FANTA, and Wageningen’s Centre for Development Innovation are working with local governments in Uganda to develop district nutrition action plans and strengthen local capacity to address malnutrition and childhood stunting. In 2015, Dokolo district became the first to get approval for its plan, and its story offers useful insights for other districts looking to do the same.

Minimum Dietary Diversity for Women (MDD-W)

FAO and FANTA have released a guide that provides potential users of the new indicator, Minimum Dietary Diversity for Women (MDD-W), with detailed information and guidance on how to apply MDD-W in their intended settings. MDD-W can be generated from population-based surveys, and provides a new tool for assessment, target-setting, and advocacy. Learn more about the indicator and the guide.

Strategy for Social and Behavior Change Communication for the Prevention of Malnutrition in Mozambique

FANTA provided support to the Mozambique Ministry of Health to develop a national Strategy for Social and Behavior Change Communication for the Prevention of Malnutrition. The strategy (in Portuguese) serves as a tool to guide implementers of social and behavior change programs to prevent malnutrition and promote priority nutrition practices for the country.
