Monica, what do you do at FANTA?

I provide technical support for our activities in Guatemala, including conducting research and developing tools and materials to support nutrition advocacy and costing, strengthening nutrition and agriculture linkages, and capacity building in maternal and child health and nutrition. I am also leading a research activity in Botswana, where we are focused on strengthening the quality of implementation of nutrition assessment, counseling and support (NACS).

What has been your proudest moment on the FANTA project?

My proudest moment on the FANTA project was when I participated in the FANTA Guatemala dissemination event in March 2017, and could appreciate once again our great FANTA Guatemala team in action and hear much deserved praise for the team’s innovative work in support of preventing chronic malnutrition in Guatemala. A diverse set of individuals expressed their gratitude for the team’s passion, dedication, professionalism, and strong collaboration and coordination with a broad range of partners, including the Presidential Commissioner for the National Strategy for the Prevention of Chronic Malnutrition, the Secretary for the Food Security and Nutrition Secretariat, ministerial staff, USAID/Guatemala staff and partners, civil society, and youth. I felt so honored and proud to be part of this hard working and productive team.
