Increasing the Nutritional Impacts of Agricultural Interventions

This study provides information on program and policy options for improving the impact of agriculture on nutrition in Sub-Saharan Africa. The findings and recommendations are based on an extensive review of the literature as well as interviews with researchers, USAID managers and other development and donor organizations. The review focuses on four countries: Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique and Uganda. The study was supported by the Africa Bureau, USAID.

The findings were presented at a workshop sponsored by the Greater Horn of Africa Initiative (GHAI) on "Agricultural Policy, Resource Access and Human Nutrition." The workshop was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in November 1999. Information about the workshop including copies of the papers presented are available on the BASIS website: http://www.ies.wisc.edu/ltc/baspubhrn.html.
