Summary Indicators for Infant and Child
Feeding Practices: An Example from the Ethiopia Demographic and Health Survey
2000 (2002)Appropriate infant
and child feeding practices are essential to meet the nutritional needs of children
in the first years of life. Nationally representative data on infant and child
feeding practices and the nutritional status of children were collected as part
of the Ethiopia Demographic and Health Survey 2000 (EDHS). This note presents
summary findings of the EDHS infant and child feeding information and includes
recommendations for integration of relevant behavior change components into maternal
and child health and nutrition programming.
