A new sampling guide, developed by FANTA and sponsored by USAID's Bureau for Food Security (BFS) and the Office of Food for Peace (FFP), has been developed to help USAID program implementers conduct beneficiary-based surveys as a way of collecting data for select Feed the Future agricultural annual monitoring indicators. In addition to the guide, an Excel-based tool is available to calculate sample sizes for these surveys.
In a webinar on May 24, FANTA and BFS introduced the guide and calculator. The presenters discussed scenarios under which periodic beneficiary-based surveys are appropriate and highlighted a few of the approaches suggested in the guide. A demonstration of the accompanying Excel-based sample size calculator was also provided.
