Promoting the Consumption of Animal-Source Food to Optimize the Diets of Women and Young Children in the Western Highlands of Guatemala

Many factors contribute to the high rates of chronic malnutrition seen in the Western Highlands of Guatemala. Regular consumption of animal-source food can prevent chronic malnutrition, however, consumption of such food is lacking due to high cost and poor access, among other reasons. This technical brief summarizes findings related to consumption of animal-source food among women and young children in the Western Highlands of Guatemala and offers key opportunities to provide support for improving access to animal-source food among the population.
