Hanifa Bachou, Project Manager/Uganda

In addition to 20 years working as a physician at Mulago Hospital, which included managing patient care, training medical students, and overseeing the National Nutrition Unit, Dr. Hanifa Bachou has been a key contributor to important nutrition policy, training, and guidelines developed in Uganda, including the Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM) guidelines and infant and young child nutrition training materials. Most recently, as a technical advisor at the University Research Co., LLC, with the Nulife and SUSTAIN projects, she provided training and supervision to staff and applied quality improvement methods to HIV and nutrition programs. She has medical training from Makerere University and the University of Queensland, and a master’s degree and PhD from the University of Bergen.
